I think the most your going to reliably get to function in a .223 30rd mag is about 10, maybe 11. I really like the ASC 9rd 450B mags because they have sidewalls welded in under the feed lips to keep the rounds that are about to be fed into the gun, centered in the mag (like the Bushmaster factory 5rd mags).

Straight 20rd magazine body with a 458 SOCOM follower from CALegalMags.com. Be sure to debur the feed lips well. I used my dremel with a small burr and broke the inside corners and and then polished the edges of the feed lips with a felt wheel and rouge. Works better than the factory Bushmaster magazine.

In shopping for extra magazines for my 450 Bushmaster build I found that you couldn't find these mags just anywhere. I checked Surplus Ammo and found the mags I was looking for. Not only did they have the mags I was looking for, they were ASC mags. I know the ASC brand from previous builds to be a high quality, dependable magazine.

Longer magazines can cause feeding problems with the 450 Bushmaster and the followers will bind up in the 20/30rd Clear and Translucent magazines when using 450BM ammo. The SOCOM is a much better designed cartridge for use in the AR-15 magazine and subsequently, has no issues with any capacity or type of Lancer 5.56 magazine.
